Unlock Multilingual Writing: Introducing Grammarly’s Built-In Translation Tool

Grammarly’s translation feature supports a wide range of languages, making it a versatile tool for users around the globe.

Grammarly translates active writing into a plethora of world languages.

Grammarly has always been a go-to tool for enhancing writing, but now it’s expanding its capabilities with a new translation feature available to all UIC Grammarly accounts. This feature allows you to translate text directly within Grammarly, eliminating the need to switch to external translation tools and helping you stay focused on your work.

Where is the Translation Feature Available?

The translation feature is currently supported in Grammarly for Windows and Mac (which would include Microsoft Word if locally installed) and Grammarly for Chrome. This broad availability ensures you can access translations wherever you’re working.

How to Use Grammarly’s Translation Feature

Translating text with Grammarly is simple and seamless. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Access the Translation Tool: Click the lightbulb icon next to the Grammarly button in your workspace.
  2. Start the Translation Process: In the assistant that opens, type “translate” and select “Translate with Grammarly” when it appears.
  3. Enter Your Text: Type or highlight the text you want to translate; highlighted text will automatically populate the translation field.
  4. Select Your Language: Choose the language you want to translate your text into. Grammarly will automatically detect the language of the original text.
  5. Translate and Insert: Your text will be instantly translated. You can then click “Insert” to paste the translated text directly where you’re writing, or choose “Copy” to move it to your clipboard.

Supported Languages

Grammarly’s translation feature supports a wide range of languages, making it a versatile tool for users around the globe. You can translate between the following languages:

From and Into: Chinese (Simplified), Dutch, English (British), English (American), French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish (including Argentina and Mexico variants), Polish, Portuguese (including Brazil), Swedish, Turkish, and Ukrainian.

Character Limits and Translation Options

Currently, you can translate up to 4,000 characters at once. For shorter text (under 10 words), Grammarly may offer several translation options to choose from, giving you flexibility in how you express your ideas.

Limitations to Keep in Mind

While the translation feature is powerful, it’s designed for text you’re actively writing. It won’t work with static text, such as content on a webpage or an email you received. However, it can translate text that you write in response to those static texts.

Grammarly’s new translation feature is a valuable addition for users who work in multiple languages, enhancing the platform’s utility and keeping your focus on what matters – your writing. Explore this feature today and take your writing to a global audience without missing a beat.
